Programming & AI for Kids
A free introduction to programming and artificial intelligence for children aged 8-14. Across eight lessons we learn how a computer follows instructions, what an algorithm is, how conditions and loops work, and how AI learns from examples. Every lesson comes with real-life examples and a short practice task.
This course is designed for children aged 8-14 and requires no prior knowledge; paper, a pencil and some curiosity are enough. Across eight lessons we learn, in order: 1) How a computer understands instructions and why a programmer must be precise; 2) What an algorithm is and where it appears in everyday life; 3) How programs make decisions with conditions; 4) How loops shorten repetitive work; 5) What artificial intelligence is and how it learns from examples; 6) How AI improves through practice and correcting mistakes; 7) How chatbots produce answers and how to use them properly; 8) How to stay safe and kind online. Every lesson follows the same structure: the concept in plain language first, then real examples, then a step-by-step worked example, and finally a task to complete. Finishing each lesson earns points and moves you up the league table.
